And I was suddenly hit by all my old-school, preteen Feelings™ for the scrappy main character, Mel, and her ill-conceived rebellion, aaaaaand her “~adversary~,” the Marquis of Shevraeth, with his awesome reputation as a “pleasure-seeking wastrel courtier,” when he’s really this baller soldier dude, all inscrutable and hard-to-read and shit.
